Q What is a Sri Lanka Visa?
A Sri Lanka Visa is an official authorization for a Short Visit to Sri Lanka and is issued electronically. Sri Lanka Visa is introduced with the intention of providing an efficient, reliable and simplified service to those who visit Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka Visa holders will be issued a 30 day Short Visit visa at the port of entry in Sri Lanka.
Q What types of a visa is available?
A A visa is issued only for Short Visits to Sri Lanka for Tourism and Transit purposes.
Q How should I submit an application?

Q Do I need a ticket before I apply for the Sri Lanka Visa?
A Sri Lanka Visa can be obtained even before booking your ticket.
Q How do I know if my visa is still valid for travel to Sri Lanka?
A If you have applied for a visa, you can inquire through this site to find out its current status. You will need to enter your Passport Number in order to make this inquiry.
Q How does the airline know that I have a valid visa to travel to Sri Lanka?
A A visa is not a pre-condition to board a flight/vessel to Sri Lanka.
Q What can I do if I am unable to apply through this site?
A If you do not possess electronic payment cards (credit cards/e-commerce enabled debit cards) that can be used to pay a visa processing fee through this site, you may choose one of the alternative options.
Q How secure are payments through electronic payment cards (credit card/e-commerce enabled debit cards) on this site?
A The payment gateway has been designed in accordance with the international standards.
Q Which electronic payment cards (credit card/e-commerce enabled debit cards) are accepted?
A Master and Visa cards are only accepted.
Q What happens if I already possess a valid visa?
A If you already possess a valid Residence Visa or Multiple Entry Visa, a fresh visa application cannot be lodged until that visa expires or is cancelled.
Q If I already possess a valid visa, can I apply for a fresh visa again?
A Sri Lanka Visa is valid for six months and a fresh visa cannot be obtained using the same passport until that visa expires. If you lose the passport which contains the valid visa you may apply for a fresh visa by paying the relevant fee again.
Q Can I apply for a fresh visa while being in Sri Lanka?
A You cannot obtain a fresh visa while being in Sri Lanka irrespective of whether your visa is valid or expired.
Q What happens if my application is not approved?
A If your visa application is not approved it will be referred to the nearest Sri Lanka Overseas Mission. which you may contact for further assistance.
Q If my application for visa was unsuccessful can I get my processing fee back?
A It is non-refundable and non-transferable.
Q What can I do if I make a mistake in my application?
A Once an application is submitted processed and payment is made, you cannot cancel the transaction and the payment cannot be reimbursed. Therefore, please ensure that you enter your personal details correctly. If you have made an error, it is important that you correct it before confirmation. Once you have confirmed the details, your electronic payment card (credit card/e-commerce enabled debit card) will be debited for the non-refundable service charge. If you find out later that you have made a mistake, then you will have to submit a fresh application and pay the relevant fee again.
Q I did not receive any e-mail confirmation.
A Check your "Spam", "Bulk Mail" or "Junk e-mail" folder . If you find our e-mail there, select the confirmation message and click "This is Not Spam". This will help your future messages (for example visa documents) to get through.
